Overview

Soak up the unforgettable atmosphere of New Orleans’ French Quarter! On this mobile audio tour, you will experience more diversity and history than in any other place in America — while also enjoying delicious food, drink, music, and culture.

The French Quarter is home to the Old Absinthe House on Bourbon Street, which was the meeting place where General Andrew Jackson formed an unusual alliance with notorious pirate Jean Lafitte — a partnership that gave America a decisive edge against the British in the War of 1812.

Perhaps the only things more mysterious than the purported mind-bending qualities of the famous drink served at the Old Absinthe House are the voodoo potions and dolls you’ll find on Dumaine Street and the legend of the Casket Girls at the Old Ursuline Convent, the oldest building in the Mississippi Valley.

In this self-guided walking tour, you will discover all this and more while exploring the city's unique cuisines, music, faiths and customs.

Though many rich and famous locals—like native musician Harry Connick Jr.—have worshiped here, the cathedral has long been a place to welcome everyone, even enslaved people and enslavers.

    Activity name

Cool New Orleans wants to make your searches as relevant as possible. That's why we offer many ways to help you find the right experiences for you.

On some pages, you can select how to sort the results we display and also use filter options to see only those search results that meet your chosen preferences. You'll see explanations of what those sort options mean when you select them.

If you see a Badge of Excellence label, the award is based on average review ratings, share of bookings with a review, and number of bookings through Cool New Orleans over a 12-month period.

The importance of any one factor over any other in a sort order varies, and the balance is constantly being reviewed and adjusted. We're always updating our systems and testing new ways to refine and improve your results to make them as relevant as possible to meet your needs.
