Brian was a great guide. He is both an author and a lover of history, and we learned a lot about New Orleans and the French Quarter during our time with him. The Sidewalk Food Tours team gave us input into the foods and locations we would visit, and the process for a private tour was flexible on timing as well. It was just the kind of intro to the Quarter that we were seeking. There is one change I would make with a do-over… I would evaluate the food options for both French Quarter and Garden District before making a decision on which tour to book. There could be more variety of options in the Garden tour. While Gumbo and Jambalaya have some significant differences, they are also very similar, and combining them in two hours is kind of heavy on rice, chicken and andouille sausage.

As I got the meeting point I found out I was the only one on the tour and that was the very first thing that made the tour special already, Libby showed up for me and that made me feel special. It seems it can happen during summer because of the low season but instead of canceling because only one person reserved the tour, I got to see Garden District! Libby was so kind to me and we even talked about how New Orleans history is related to Puerto Rico’s (my homeland) and the Caribbean, so interesting! If you are ever in New Orleans I 100% recommend this tour! After, if you’re a coffee lover as myself, you can definitely get to Magazine street and get a coffee from the French Truck! Hope you enjoy your New Orleans trip!

It was just the 4 of us on the tour which was fantastic as we could keep up together & it felt like a private tour! Justin, our guide, was fabulous - very knowledgeable about New Orleans. It was really hot but the pace & frequent stops made it manageable.This tour is a great way to see a cemetery & learn about traditional burial. And it’s a great way to see the beautiful garden district. The stop for a drink / snack was also welcome.

This Black History& Treme tour reminded me of the Historic West End neighborhood in Atlanta; Including the New Orleans African American Museum that is similar to the Hammond House in Atlanta. We enjoyed the Louis Armstrong Park and Congo Square.
